Unable to fight his nature, Eric quickly realizes he’s losing a fight against something he can’t control. Despite increasingly dire circumstances, Eric refuses to relent. He will fight to regain control of what he lost….by any means necessary.

It's been days since I've finished this read but I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it. Between being mindblown and trying to accept the reality of how this series has finally come to its end, Courtney's brilliance still never ceased to amaze me.

In the final conclusion of the Breaking Insanity series, we finally get all the answers to the burning questions from the very beginning. Self destructive, dysfunctional and all sorts of twisted; has Nikki and Eric's relationship finally reached its breaking point? Will the good triumphed the evil? And who can be trusted in this read? The anticipation of wanting to know how everything will unfold continuously kept me at the edge of my seat.

I don't want to give away the plot specifics but let me just say that Courtney writes some of the best dark, twisted stories out there and the amount of thought she puts into every story of hers always blow me away. The intricacy of details and the web of lies and deceit she spun throughout this entire series definitely gave me a headtrip. Nothing about her stories are predictable which make her one of my auto-buy author.

Although I was left feeling a little conflicted with how the series ended, I understood why the author chose the path she did with the story. It may not have been the most ideal ending but I felt it was the most realistic ending. And for that, I really want to commend Courtney for staying true to her characters till the very end. The ending definitely tore me up in ways that I didn't expect it to but with this author, I should have known that she could easily make a mess out of my emotions with her words.

Of course a fair warning: This book surely isn't for everyone. There are themes in this book that many would find objectionable, the characters are those that you'll find difficult to grasp with and to simply put it, it's just all kinds of messed up. Again, this is a no romance read, it's a psychological thriller that really puts your sanity to the test. If none of that bothers you, by all means, this is one beautiful mess of a series not to be missed.

I can't wait to see where Courtney's brilliant mind will take us next.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

COURTNEY LANE has been creating her own little world since she was very young. When she was eight years old, she began to bring her worlds to life with a pen and paper.

Although she's had a few short hiatuses, writing has been her passion for a number of years. Until 2013, she'd always viewed her writing as a personal hobby and a purgative process: She never thought about sharing her very personal works with anyone outside of her friends and family. On October 8, 2013, she took the plunge into self-publishing and began making her works available to the public.

While many of her works touch several different genres, she has an archetype when it comes to the female protagonists in her stories — they have to have certain brand of strength, be deeply flawed, and harbor layered personalities. In her books you will find themes that reflect the darker side of life with a tremendous amount of depth and complexity. She also has an affinity for characters that aren't necessarily the girl or boy next door, or the people you'd encounter in everyday life. In other words, she prefers to explore characters who aren't easy to fall in love with.

Currently, Courtney can be found either working on her next book, playing the latest role-playing game on her X-Box (preferably a game by Bioware), or spending time with her family.
